Maintenance shouldn’t be an afterthought but a priority. We recommend a routine schedule for maintaining your system that meets the specific needs of your unit. That includes:
Every year, just prior to the start of the heavy use season (generally by May), a comprehensive tune up and inspection is necessary. This is an all-encompassing appointment that incorporates preventative maintenance tasks, including a full inspection, refrigerant check, and applicable repairs of worn components.
It is best to schedule this appointment prior to the start of the season. That way, our team can get to work updating and cleaning the system to prepare it for your use. Doing this now means less risk of failures at the worst time of the year, when temperatures rise into the 90s and humidity makes days awful.
Most of the time, during peak season, our clients need to replace their air conditioning filters one time every 1 to 3 months. The more you use the AC, the higher the temperatures, and the older the system, the more frequently you need to replace your filters.
If you have 1-inch standard filters, aim to replace them at least once every other month during use seasons. If you have 4-inch or larger filters, you can wait up to 4 to 6 months to replace them. Stick with what the manufacturer recommends to avoid any concerns down the road.
Your home’s air conditioner is a major component and one you could rely on every day of the summer. With AC maintenance in Jeffersontown, KY, completed on a consistent basis, you can expect several benefits.

During your maintenance appointment, we’ll meet all of the manufacturer’s recommendations for preventive maintenance. This includes:
In situations where we find a concern, we’ll let you know about it at the end of the appointment so you can make plans to take care of any repair issues, or plan for a new air conditioning installation. We recommend scheduling AC maintenance once a year. It’s best to do it in the spring before the Kentucky heat sets in. Annual service helps ensure your system is ready to handle the summer without surprises. If your system is older or runs heavily, a second check later in the season can provide extra peace of mind.
During an AC tune up, our NATE-certified technicians inspect and clean key components, check refrigerant levels, test system performance, tighten electrical connections, and make sure everything is operating safely. We’ll also point out any small issues so they can be taken care of before they turn into costly problems.
Absolutely. Regular air conditioner maintenance helps your system run more efficiently, lowers energy bills, and extends the life of your equipment. More importantly, it reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns during the hottest days of the year. It’s a small investment that helps you avoid bigger, more stressful expenses later.
Most AC tune ups can be completed in about 60 to 90 minutes. Our technicians take the time to do the job right while respecting your schedule. We’ll walk you through what we find in clear, simple terms so you always feel informed and in control.
While no service can guarantee zero repairs, routine maintenance dramatically reduces the chances of unexpected breakdowns. By catching worn parts or minor issues early, we can help you avoid those uncomfortable “no AC” moments during peak summer heat in Jeffersontown.
Skipping maintenance can lead to higher energy bills, reduced cooling performance, and a greater risk of breakdowns. Over time, small issues can build into larger, more expensive repairs, or even shorten the lifespan of your system. Regular check-ups help keep things predictable and stress-free.
For most homes, changing your air filter every 1–3 months is a good rule of thumb. Homes with pets, allergies, or higher usage may need more frequent changes. A clean filter helps your system run efficiently and improves indoor air quality for your family.
Yes, Chapman Heating and Cooling offers maintenance plans that make caring for your system simple and worry-free. Members enjoy regular tune-ups, priority service, and added savings on repairs. It’s a convenient way to stay ahead of problems and keep your home comfortable year-round, without the guesswork.
Our whole house humidifier was not working and we called Chapman Heating to check on it. Our technician, Michael, checked our furnace and humidifier and determined that the furnace had a part that was not working properly. He had the part ordered. He returned when the part was available and installed the part and determined humidifier was working properly but the thermostat was not set to operate the humidifier. He reset the thermostat and the humidifier is working perfectly. Michael was very efficient and knowledgeable and made the needed repairs to our system. His work was 5 star. I would give him and Chapman 10 stars if possible.
Jeremy and Alan were both great. We had a difficult situation that needed to be addressed and I appreciate their professional and pleasant problem-solving skills. Jeremy has been here before and always been very good at listening to concerns and has incredible work ethics! After being very frustrated for a few months, it was nice to see our concern being addressed and issues corrected.
Michael was the most patient and knowledgeable service tech from beginning to end. He was polite and courteous and put on booties over his shoes everytime he entered my home. He took the time to show and explain things to me in a way I’d understand. We wouldn’t call anyone else to service our HVAC.
